minutes to midnight

As usual, distracted by bullshit when i should be doing my paper for chem. Im waiting for ppl to get out of class so we can enjoy this nice ass weather before it rains or what not. But shit nothins up worked like a fuckin dog sat. I mean from 11am-2am. Yes i went from am to pm back to am. lol. a lot of ppl went to carbondale this wk for the playas ball and were all like u shoulda came it cracked drake shut shit down i was so fucked up yada yada the usual. Im not really into that standing around with thousands of other ppl lookin at clothes and shit so count me out. And drake will come to chicago so im not holdin my breath(not that i care to check for him anyway) For some strange reason i got pissed in my chem class this morning. I have this one presentation on hybrid orbitals and molecular bullshit with this one girl and she took my one idea and fuckin ruined it. Plus her breath was nasty. You know how you get pissed when someone has bad breath but you dont want to offend them by letting them know their shit stinks so you just shit there letting them ramble on all the while your getting pissed cuzz ur steady inhaling their toxic? Long ass sentence huh? But yea thats how it was so by the time she was done with her bullshit i was like w/e just stop talking lol. Anyway lets get to sum album reviews kiddies.



Jim Jones had that one big hit two years(I refuse to go into further details u guys know. Despite not really being a rapper, Jim has managed to release 3 ok albums for his standards and land a major deal. After breakups with past friends(max b and bff cam'ron) and the death of his byrdgang member/ghostwriters(stack bundles), Jones is ready to stand on his own as a so called "boss" with his fourth album Pray IV Reign. Lets see how that goes

1)Intro Ft Starr- I would like to see an album that doesnt have intro as the name of the first song. Its stating the obvious. The beat is cool some old funky 70s pimp shit. Jim spits some remembering old harlem days shit.

2)Pulling me back Ft Chink Santana-Beat is really snooze shit. Jones spits about haters trying to pull him back to the streets. album skip.

3)Let it off-This beat sounds like absolute shit wtf. I mean its a spanish guitar, a 1776 revolutionary war sounding snare drum, a fat bass from the late 70s/early 80s, and some random sample. it doesnt even matter what this song is about cuz you'll prolly skip this based on the annoying beat.

4)How to be a boss Ft Ludacris & NOE- Another corny beat. This sounds like a leftover from an old 98 terror squad mixtape. Ludacris manages to save this but barely.

5)Medicine Ft NOE and Chink Santana- Pussy is my medicine. Is this what rappers spend 6-7 months coming up with? The beat is a complete rip off of nigga what nigga who. Speaking of Jay-z, NOE sounds exactly like him circa 1996. Now i understand the obsession Jim has with Jay-z.

6)Frenemies-Jim gets into the situation about Cam'ron and Max B. Pretty good considering it actually has a story attached to it. Jim went in on Max B damn. Beat is cool but the isley bros sample is awful tho. This Chink Santana should listened to Nas's if i ruled the world to see how to properly flip that.

7)Precious Ft Ryan Leslie-The first good ass beat and its wasted so bad. Jones flow, voice, lyrics are exposed as it clash horribly with this smooth shit. I mean this dude actually spits this great gem(every obama needs a michelle/so little mama wont you be my michelle/michelle/my bell/i want you on my team cant you tell). pure trash. And his voice is too harsh on this smooth it out bruh.Suck cuz u can actually see someone like fabolous or even 50 murdering this shit.

8)Blow the bank Ft Oshy-This shit sounds like a metrosexuals dream song. I can see Ne-Yo or diddy getting ready for a sat night bumpin this. Beat sounds like synthesized shit and the singer sounds like the guy from next(i think thats the name of that group).

9)This is for my bitches Ft Oshy-This shit is starting to sound bad quick. Well another awful R&B song featuring the back bencher singer from the last song. Skip

10)Girlfriend Ft Juelz Santana & Oshy- Another garbage beat and raps about swag.

11)This is the life Ft Starr- Didnt Rick Ross have the exact same song on his album last year? I mean they even stole the chorus a lil bit. Beat sounds like some jeezy throwaway.

12)My My My Ft Rowana- This whole album is starting to sound like some late 90s shit. Jones reminisces about dead homies(stack bundles). A poured out 40 ounce woulda sounded much better lol j/k.

13)Pop off Ft NOE & Mel Matrix- Speaking of the 90s, this beat sounds like something off of sonic the hedgehog when he faces dr. robtnik. The typical group track about gangsta shit. Nothing special.

14)Pop Champagne Ft Ron Browz & Juelz Santana- How Ron Browz keeps a straight face while explaining how he doesnt bite t-pain is beyond me. This beat either annoys the shit outta me or is ok depending on what kinda mood im in. Juelz was kinda raw when he was hanging around wayne but hes back to his average style now

15)Rain Ft NOE,Rell,& Starr- lol its funny how i mention someone in the previous track and they manage to pop up in the next in some form. Beat is a complete rip off of I cant believe it. Its nice to see Rell on somethin. Its a shame he was on Rocafella all that time and didnt get a single out. Despite sounding like jay-z, NOE is pretty decent.

16)Na Na Nana Na Na Ft NOE and Brittney Taylor- Words cant describe how absolutely terrible this is.

17)Jackin swagga from us Ft Lil Wayne, Twista, & NOE- Its funny how this is supposedly a diss towards the ppl on the original song but yet he has the Jay-z clone on here and the beat is a generic up tempo version of the original. And wtf is wayne doing on here exactly? Why would you appear on a song thats a diss towards the original song your were featured on? 50 was right when he said wayne is a whore lol.


Verdict-I can honestly say this is one of the worst pieces of shit i ever heard. And i use to be the biggest dipset fan(and still am. diplomatic immunity come home with me, from me to you still gets play to this day)But this is terrible. How does this get cleared for release? When he was on Koch his albums were way better then this. I know its tough times but i think majors can still pay for ppl like pharrell, just blaze, etc. Yes I know 50 uses no name producers all the time but at least their decent, unlike the dudes on this album. Awful beats and too many ppl featured(and all of them sucked except NOE and ludacris)is what killed this. This is a clear cut example of what happens when you lose your best ghost writers(Max B, Stack Bundles)and leadership(Cam'ron). You drop Pray Iv Reign. And I would like an album that actually represents the album title. Wtf does blow the bank and na na nana have to do with pray iv reign? Wtf does pray iv reign even mean? Aww im pondering too much but yea this is trash.




To be honest i dont know much about Keri Hilson. I know she was on that annoying timbaland song a couple years ago and she ghostwrites shit for beyonce, ciara, pussycat dolls, etc. She also has released a thousand singles from this, none of which made any noise. Then she dropped turnin me on, which is gettin played everywhere now. Based on that song and the fact she looks good as hell, I decided to check this out lol.

1)Intro- Keri brags about some misc shit over a lame timbaland beat. Next

2)Turning me on- The smash single that everyone(including me lol)loves. Beat is crazy. Even tho polow the don is credited as the main producer we all no danja really did this beat cuz it doesnt sound like the usual stadium anthem shit polow does. Wanyes verse is fuckin hilarious lol.

3)Get your money Ft Trina & Keyshia Cole-Keyshia and Keri sound good on this shit but Trina ruins it with a trash verse. And why does she sound like that lil kid off of lil waynes label? Song basically is about fuck broke niggas get money. Ok song

4)Return the flavor Ft timbaland- I hate almost everything timbaland does these days so i have a bias on his beats lol. Keri and timbaland sound horrible together and the beat is just irritating. skip.

5)Knock you down Ft Ne-Yo & Kanye West-Kanye's verse sucked on this one and Ne-Yo was idk Ne-Yo? I dont get how that dude is big as he is but w/e good for him. Beat is ok but the synths is annoying.

6)Slow Dance-man this shit is raw as hell. Beat sounds like classic prince and Keri comes correct on the lyrics and vocals. Very good.

7)Make love- The beat sounds very familiar(and since polow is well known for jackin beats its def from some old song.) keri's voice is a lil grating a la mariah carey but its a nice lil love song.

8)Intuition-Keri sings about how she thinks her man may be cheating on her. Nothing special to me.

9)How does it feel-This beat sounds like the one timbo did for LL about 4 years ago(and it sucked then). Keri sings about the done to death topic of being with another man who treats her right and her ex feels shitty. skip

10)Alienated-Keri sings about not being over her ex. I guess this is a female thing cuz im not caring for these last couple of songs at all lol.

11)Tell him the truth-Pretty crazy song where Keri talks about how she cheated on her man and how she is scared to tell him. Beat sounds like that classic 90s jodeci, h-town, swv shit.

12)Change me Ft Akon- Akon has quickly morphed into the most annoying person to ever sing into a microphone. I mean has anyone ever told this guy how bad he sounds? He sounds like pure shit next to keri and completely riuns w/e potential this song had.

13)Energy-Beat sounds like somethin that one hit wonder who had a song with chris brown would sing over AKA too poppy for me. But the lyrics and vocals are pretty good if you can get over the beat.

14)Where did he go- snooze fest. timbaland is very lazy with the production on this song. Keri doenst talk about anything interesting and sounds too much like Beyonce on this.


verdict- I heard that this album has been pushed back for about a year and I can see why. Except for about 4-5 songs, the album is typical R&B that wont really set the world on fire. The main problem for me at least is that the production was handled mostly by timbaland/danja and polow da don who are very overrated to me. Im sorry but timbaland doesnt really sound to me like he cares for producing beats if it isnt with justin timberlake. And polow has been making that same heavy stadium big marching band synthesizer music for years. If it woulda been mixed up a lil with ppl like tricky stewart and rodney harrison i woulda enjoyed this a lil more. But w/e. If you havent been fiending for this album for the longest i wouldnt rush to hear this.
